Same exact complaint as Dee542****. Complete scam/rip-off
Same exact complaint as Dee542****. This company must have launched a new scam campaign. People finders claims that if you check the box, apparently it says 3-in-1 that is next to the 95 cents, which you need to do to advance to the next page and then the next page, etc, this constitutes a virtual signature. This company is in business first and foremost to do one thing - cheat people. Any decent company would refund the money when the person realized they had made a mistake. It seems reasonable to pay a one time fee of 95 cents for one phone number, which is why so many people are lured into the confusing site with red buttons and boxes all around with different prices. The fact they send an email for the 95 cents, but in no place mention $24.95 is goiong to be charged, is deceptive business. They claim it is in the "fine print" on the email. It is hard to find, and if the person is impaired or not quite as computer savvy as some, and don't see they have signed up, the company has absolutely no mercy what so ever. They cheerfully tell you they are sorry for any confusion, then tell you they have never issued a refund, and no one has ever complained before. They also offer to show you just where you fell into the trick - although they calmly and sweetly advise you that you "became a member". They are proud they cheat people.

Bait and switch - deceptive practices
on 7/6/10, I opened an account with PeopleFinders.com. I was immediately charged $19.95 for this "service" even though the website clearly states that if you cancel your account within 7 days, you will not be charged. I did not find the information that I was seeking on the website and canceled the account within 30 minutes of its inception as your program was not working for me. I sent an e-mail to the company on 7/7 and received a reply that was very confusing and not helpful. I tried to call the company for clarification and was on hold for over an hour before I hung up. I tried again to call on the 8th and was on hold for 93 minutes before I finally hung up, (I have finite minutes to use since I have a cell phone only). I sent another e-mail and received another ambiguous reply. Once again, I responded and requested a refund. I again received an ambiguous reply. At this point, I have reached a state BEYOND being upset with your company. 5 e-mails later and I FINALLY reached someone by phone today, 7/12,(this time the hold time was only 33 minutes), and I requested, verbally, a refund of the $19.95. Your company refused to refund the monies, and instead, offered to "upgrade" my account as you claim that I had chosen the "wrong service" and should have contacted you earlier to resolve the issue. I have been trying to resolve the issue since I purchased the account, yet YOUR company makes that impossible to do! I do not WANT an upgrade with your company. I want a refund of my $19.95. Your company is not one I wish to be associated with in any shape form, or fashion as I believe it uses bait and switch tactics and is a very dishonest company.

Peoplefinder is a rip-off!
I hate false advertisers and hate to get sucked in by them! Peoplefinder says that if you will text them, they will send you info for $1.99. I did just that and then they came back with trying to get me to subscribe to their service for so much a month. I never did get my info...so I paid $1.99 plus the fee for me to send & receive texts for nothing...rip off! I don't see how swindling companies like this, and that freecreditreport.com, can be allowed to trick people into using their services legally.

People finders took money from my bank without my permission
People finders took money from my checking account without my permission. I paid $1.95 for one search only. Today they have took $24.95 out of my account without my permission. I tried to call the 800 number no one will answer. I am so pissed. I live on fixed income and just wanted to find one person. The info they gave me was wrong. It had a lot of the info but the person that I was trying to contact does not have that number anymore. I think PeopleFinders is a rip off and should be put out of business

Peoplefinders.com - ripoffs
Signed up with peoplefinders.com for a 1-time search of their outdated data for $1.90... To my surprise I was charged $24.95 on my next Visa bill. This is a total scam... PoeopleFinders lures you in with a low one-time fee and then a week later immediately bill you have a montly charge of $25. They will continue to charge you $25 a month until you cancel your subscription. They say it clearly stated on the website when you sign up. It is not. Talk to Ava in the "customer support area" and you will see this is a total ripoff. They lie, cheat, steal and lie some more.

SaveAce,Homesavings Mall & Privacy M Charges on credit card without authorization
I joined Peoplefinders in May 2010. Three charges were unauthorized on my credit card at $16.95 each. Name of companies are MVQ SaveAce, MVQ HomesavingsMLL and MVQ Privacy M. Contacted the phone numbers on my credit card bill all three phone numbers are different but the three companies are the same with different names. Said they would credit my account in 3 days and gave me a confirmation number. For security reasons I placed a block on my credit card. Be very cautious of PeopleFinders I am positive these charges came through this web site. In searching google these three companies have many complaints regarding a scam.

People finders.com
I went into peoplefinders.com online to do 2 reverse phone numbers and they charged my account $4.95 for each and that was fine but then they charged me $47.40 on 12/7/09. for something I didnt sign up for and now I cant get ahold of anyone to cancel it. I have used them before and I didnt have this happen to me so I dont know why they charged me extra. I have tried to contact them by the number they give online if you are trying to get ahold of them and all they do is give you the run around 1 80*-718-****. You cant talk to a live person even though they say they will be right with you they dont!!!!! I am pissed off about the whole thing! They will probably charge my account each month for this and then I will be more pissed. What are they doing? What a scam!

PeopleFinders.com Bad Info
Used them twice for two different names. First search came up with name only no address or phone number. Second name came up with four addresses and phone numbers, all were out of date at least six years. Here is their response when I requested a refund: Most of the products on the Site come with a limited guarantee. This means that if your search does not return any results, we will provide you with another search, at no additional cost to you. The service is provided "as is." You are paying for us to conduct a search on your behalf, not to return any particular result. Information is often obtained by third parties and the accuracy of the information cannot be guaranteed, per our Terms of Use. Please contact Customer Care at the number below if you would like assistance with your searches. We do not offer refunds as stated in our Terms of Use. Thank you. BUYER BEWARE!!

People finders.com ripped me off
people finders.com gave my credit card info to privacy matters 1-2-3.com who charged me $24.95. i wanted an address from people finders.com which i have used in the past for $1.95. but this time in november 2009 in the very small print which makes it legal from their standpoint i was charged $24.95 for a monthly service from privacy matters.com which i did not authorize. the people finders.com site says $1.95 for the address and you will find it states $1.95 in big letters and why would i buy a privacy matters.com product when all i wanted was an address?

Peoplefinders.com reverse phone # look up
Beware if the "free" reverse look up search you get on a phone number has details such as 'unavailable'. peoplefinders.com won't be able to provide ANY additional information. Know this going into it. You will be paying for the exact information you got for free. When I requested a refund because of this the support person stated "can't per terms and conditions". She did offer me 24 hours of 'free' people searching. That isn't what I wanted, but maybe I'll look up myself. This is a lesson learned. Please watch and beware of these scams going forward.

People finder.com is a rip-off
I did a background check of myself and this site came up with nothing. My past is checked and colorful. This site will only take your money and give you nothing in return! complained by e-mail got an auto response with a phone # call it and was left on hold for 10 minutes. When the "customer service rep" did answer all she did was run the same report and tell all about the disclaimer on the website. I pressed for a refund or at least some discount only to have her once again tell me about the disclaimer spend your money elsewhere

People Finders/Privacy Matters
Same complaint as Nicolina81 of March 24, 2008. I purchased services from People Finders via credit card. A week later Privacy Matters billed my credit card in the amount of $19.95 - unauthorized. I consider it an illegal act since I had never heard of Privacy Matters before. Like Nicolina81, the information that I did get from People Finders was worthless. I have contacted my credit card company to protest the charges. I am still awaiting replies from People Finders and Privacy Matters. I am not a lawyer but I wonder if the unauthorized charge to my credit card violated any laws.

2 fraudulent charges made to my credit card
In March, 2008, I notified my credit card company (HSBC) that there were 3 charges posted to my credit card by some unauthorized person. One of those charges were reversed when the vendor contacted me to verify my 'order'.
I informed them that I had never even visited their web-site (Peoplefinders), let alone ordered their services.
As soon as I hung up the phone, I contacted HSBC to inform them of the fraudulent use of my card.
To date, they have done nothing about this problem, and, the 2 fraudulent charges are still on my card. Please help me!
