Unauthorize Charge to my VISA

I implemented a people search for someone and I did the usual search for $1.95. This company placed me in a membership status and charged my card for $29.50. I did not authorize this charge. I called and spoke with a rep; he states that he is going to send me a screenshot of my authorization. I ask how do I know if that is my authorization. His response was "I know". I said, if you know that than you can look at my history to know that I never sign up for membership on your site. His response "I cannot look at your history; my response was than you can possibly have a screen shot of what I authorized". I ask to speak with a manager. His response "we don't have one" and I was sent to a voicemail. I went off. So, now I am on a quest to go to every social media site I know (and I work in IT) to let people know if you have to use this site please, please be very careful. You may want to screenshot every step you make; but if you do not have to use this site I very strongly suggest that you do not. You will be charge $29.50 in addition to the $1.95 for services. If the company was close by I would be arrested by now because I would have shown up.

PeopleFinders one time 95 cent search scam

I needed to locate a person for a real estate transaction. I used the one time $.95 search (which was old useless information) and was bill $24.95 + .95 for the month. I received the bill and called and they had already billed again for an additional $24.95. They said I failed to check the correct box on the web site. I was told I would be issued credit for the 1 month paid and the $24.95 for the current month would be canceled, but they billed an me for 24.95 then issued a credit which means I got stuck for $49.90 (2 months) + .95. No help on the follow up call.

scam (skm) Slang

n.

A fraudulent business scheme; a swindle.

tr.v. scammed, scam·ming, scams

To defraud; swindle.

scam (skæm)

n., v. scammed, scam•ming. n.

1. a fraudulent scheme; swindle.

v.t.

2. to cheat; defraud.

Forgetting to check ONE TINY box and being forced to pay for 2 months of service, with no consideration of a customer or a mistake, with no apology or empathy from a company, who purposefully makes it difficult to use the one time cheaper service without getting charged a monthly fee and no clear confirmation the monthly fee is going to be charged... EQUALS SCAM IN MY BOOK, HUNTY!

You must be from PeopleFinders.

Please look up the definition of "scam". You not bothering to read what YOU were signing up for is not a scam, just you being another careless consumer blaming others for YOUR mistake.

Added me to membership, I approved one time only!

I approved the one time only, and now my account is being charged $24.95. I don't want a membership. I can't afford it! Please cancel immediately and return my $24.95. I will never use your company again! If I'm not satisfied, I will place a complaint with the BBC, and any where else I can find, to let others know what your company does! I might have used your company many times, but not after this. I feel so ripped off! Please, please correct this error immediately and return my money. I don't have it to just throw away.

Peoplefinders.com

Was searching for an old friend. Paid peoplefinders.com $.95 and got my information. Realized 8 months later that they signed me up with a subscription for $24.95 per month. When I called to complain, the lady told me they could refund 4 months payments. Asked to talk to her supervisor and she gave me another 2 months payments back. Be careful if you use this service. If you pay $1.99 you are OK. If you choose the $.95 you WILL be signed up as a subscriber and if you don't cancel within 3 days, you WILL be billed $24.95 a month.

People Smart - TOTALLY wrong info

My son had applied for several jobs and wasn't hearing anything back and there just seemed to be something odd going on. I finally decided to pay $39.95 for a one-time report using People Smart. Well the report was TOTALLY incorrect in fact they don't really have file in HIS name instead they merged some of his brother's information and his so that the one who I attempting to obtain a report for doesn't exist. When I complained I was given 150 credits for a free report. Oddly enough my husband only shows up as his "middle" name and he has NEVER in his life been known by his middle name. Just a warning to all. They get by with this based on item 5 in their terms of service advising folks that their information should not be used for credit, jobs, promotions....I'd say since it is worthless it should not be used for ANYTHING.

Pissed at People finders.

Did a people finders search. Now supposedly I signed up to be a member and Im getting a monthly charge of 24.99. Going to my bank Monday to stop the charges and Im going to file charges. Very dishonest business. Also there people finding skills are a joke. They didnt do anything that I allready had done previously. Plus there initial charges are to high to start with. Guess Ill have to cancel my debit card and order a new one. Hope none of you get taken by these people. Getting really tired of these dishonest people in the world nowadays

I just realized that they got me too. I don't check my bank statements often but just got online banking and there was a charge going back for months for $24.95 to Peoplefinders.com.

I used them once to check on an old friend, paid something like $2.00 with my debit card. Now I find out I'm a subscriber.

Hah! I called them but was told their system was down and they would have to call me back.

You only get PUBLIC info; MISLEADING PROMISES

I found a person's name and address,(age, persons living with them, etc) but wanted the phone number. I clicked on PEOPLE FINDER and was told I would get AVAILABLE info on SIX ITEMS, including the phone number. I paid and NO PHONE # CAME UP. I called and was told that AVAILABLE INFO was the catch phrase. Oops...the phone # is NOT AVAILABLE so I couldn't get it. I said it was misleading at best and was told NO REFUND because I ACCESSED THEIR DATA BASE.....How awful is this. I would NEVER use them AGAIN and don't recommend any company that infers you will get something, doesn't deliver and doesn't care that you were misled, EVEN AFTER I TOLD THEM I WOULD BE WRITING A HORRIBLE REVIEW. They don't care. They got their $$$ and I got screwed. Works for them!

People Finders

I tried to look up who kept calling my phone by the phone number of the caller. In the middle of the search, the website froze. After a long wait, I cancelled the request and started over. The second search worked, but all I got was the name of a company that cannot be located by any kind of search (legitimate? Don't think so). Then I found I had been charged twice for this search. I filed a complaint with the company, and they removed one charge, but left the second, even though I was given no name that could be backed up, no address or even city it was coming from, and so the search was useless. The company refused to refund the charge, and so I hope this complaint was worth $9.95 to them.

The information is wrong, yet you want it fixed and then removed. Why bother to have it corrected in the first place?

#660921

1) Posting here is not contacting them or putting them on notice.

2) Try contacting PeopleFinders first, maybe they will correct the information.

3) I don't believe you would have any case for legal action, if you did is it really worth that much money to you?

PeopleFinder is a misleading and fraudulent business. They have entered me in a automatic payment plan for 2 charges for $24.99 and $19.99.

When I checked my previous Statement it goes all the way to January. I called to to find out what these charges are, the rude lady who answered the phone said that I visited their site once in Jan and paid $1.95 for a record and never cancelled my membership???? I was never enrolled for a membership. When I explained to her, she hung up the phone on me.

I am disputing the charges on my credit card.

STAY AWAY FROM peoplefinders.com! They are FRAUD!!!!

Buyer Beware!!!

The website promises something that it won't deliver until you sign up for a more expensive service. Only God knows what happens after that, since this is a 3 tiered program. In addition to really only offering what can be had for free - for a mere $14.95, I'm not able to access my account because neither the companies record of my user password (wrong!) nor mine (apparently wrong, as well) won't let me in. Makes me really angry with myself for being so easily duped! Isn't there something I can do to get my $$ back? Pissed and Passed

Bait and switch tactic

I used people finders to find someone. I gave my debit card # and they charged .95 cents for the trial service. That was all I agreed to. There was nothing on the checkout page about cancelling a membership to peoplefinders within 3 days or a $24.95 would be charged to my card. I received a confirmation e-mail which I didn't get to promptly and there it said that there would be a monthly charge if not cancelled within 3 days, however that was not on the page where I entered my debit card # and checked out. Tomorrow I'm calling my bank and disputing the charges. I also copied all of the pages of the checkout procedures for evidence to take to my bank. That confirmation e-mail was not part of the purchase agreement. Shame on you peoplefinders.com. I see this is not the only complaint for this action.

Just make sure you read everything top to bottom... Nothing like finding out it was in the finer fine-print and you overlooked it before disputing the charges.

Cutonepastetwo@***.com

I singed up for a one day, one search trial, and pushed a wrong button for automatic monthly renewal when I realized what had happen I called them and canceled. The next day I check my bank records and they charged me for a month. So I called them to get my money back they said that I had three days to cancel. Not only did they charge me for the service, they did not even give me the month, just took my money, with no service.I think that this company is just out to trap unsuspecting consumers with misleading ads in order to get into their bank accounts and should be charge with some kind of a crime of theft without services.
