I read the following complaint and the EXACT same thing happened to me. BEWARE of this company.

"I needed to find a phone number for a friend of mine. Went to PeopleFinder.com, typed in the name and state and got the choice of paying $1.95 or .95. I clicked on .95 and then saw that I was signing up for $24.95 a month for all the lookups I wanted. Well, I didn't want that so I backed up and clicked on the $1.95 button. Days later I found that I had been charged $.95 plus $24.95. Tried to dispute it but the credit card company said that by clicking on the $1.95 button I was agreeing to those terms. 18438dc"

Monetary Loss: $24.

Location: San Luis Obispo, California

Typed a distant family relatives name in the search bar of safari search engine, I got the wrong information as a result . Mind you I didn’t register or agreed to any terms of this consumer or site nor did I give any of my banking info to this site.

UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES. HOW DID YOU GET MY BANKING INFO.

Guest

i did the same thing but i lock my debit card on my banks so every once in a while i see a denied charge on my account from them.

Friend finder, give an email address and your doomed with spam, I created a trash email account and glad I did all I get is spam all day all need get, should be a law against this type of ***. Heed my warning, I Se a *** email account.

I just fell for this scam as well. Didn't realize what I was signing up for (very vague on the site) I wonder how many others where duped into this.

I believe that is the way they make their money to support this site. Shame on me for not being more informed and cautions....shame on them for knowing this will happen and basically scamming the funds from unsuspecting consumers.

Same thing happened to me. I emailed them and they are refunding my charge to the credit card. Hopefully, that will take care of it.

Guest

I would raise Cain if my card company did that. Suggest you consider doing that too.

It happened to me with both Peoplefinder and Truthfinder several times in 10-11/2016.. I didn't click ok on anything having to do with a charge. I just backed out. I don't know how they got my card number.

I cancelled the card and got a new one.

I will be credited back. I told them they should investigate them as Fraud or not to let them use their charge account.

Guest

just happened to me. and the csr was very rude talking over me

Guest

Total rip off. Do not use, they will start charging you a monthly charge.

They got me for $24.95/ month. I had to cancel my debit card to get it stopped. Still lost the $24.95. My bank would have refunded me that amount but they would have lost the $24.95 .

So i'm chalking it you to bought intelligence. What a scam. Do not deal with these crooks.

Never again. If i9t says FREE or FREE TRIAL BEWARE.

Guest

They got me like that too! The information wasn't even useful!

Guest

They billed me 29.95 and 620 for auto parts on 10 /12 2015. How can we stop this?

Guest

I didn't get roped in to the monthly fee but neither did I get a report emailed to me that I paid for. I wish I hadn't given these *** my credit card info however. I may have to cancel that card.

Guest

This is the biggest rip off I have ever seen. Do not fall for it.

I too called the credit card company. They said I agreed to the terms. The terms said I would receive certain information that I did NOT receive. Instead I received an email with a bunch of random names that People Finder claimed to be neighbors of the person I was searching for.

RIP OFF.

Guest

Also, after requesting a reverse look-up, they said the name and address of the number holder was available. After subscribing, information was available.

Just paid $9.95 for nothing. Don't use the "service".

Guest

Same thing happened to me as well. I signed up for th 95 cent one time look up and they charged 24.95 which was not supposed to be recharged.

I thought that this must be a mistake and would remedy this with a simple phone call to them.

The operator that answered was rude and very unhelpful stating that it was in the terms that if I had not cancelled within 3 days that it would happen... Be forewarned this company has alot of small print to scam up out of money

Guest

Same thing. They apparently make all their money through this scam.

Guest

People finder is a crop of *** never find you update imfo same *** from ten

years ago.

Guest

:(

Heres my story,

Paid the 1.95 plus 99 cents for a single look up. I have a pending charge of 24.95 and Amex calls me and asked if I was in Spain? WTF... So I also have credit card fraud for 399 eruros. Please DO NO USE THIS SERVICE.

:(

Guest

Same exact incident happened to me. clicked on the one that said 95 cents and they charged me 24.95 days later. Huge scam.

On 9/26/12 I had the same issue as everyone else. Signed up for what appeared to be a fixed period of time and ended up getting charges $48 without my permission. I HAD to threaten legal action and spend over $48 in time on the phone to cancel my account and get the money PeopleFinders.com ripped off. There is no question that PeopleFinders.com engages in deceptive practices, forces the victim to run through a costly gauntlet to cancel service or receive a refund.

In addition the service NEVER lived up to its advertised BS.

I am looking for a class action and when I find one will gladly join.
